DPI is a form of computer network packet filtering that examines the data part (and possibly also the header) of a packet as it passes an inspection point, searching for protocol non-compliance, viruses, spam, intrusions, or defined criteria to decide whether the packet may pass or if it needs to be routed to a different destination, or, for the purpose of collecting statistical information.

By monitoring the data part, which contains much more information than just the header, DPI holds several advantages over conventional Stateful Packet Inspection and enables advanced network management, user service and security functions.

In cooperation with the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM), Titan Commerce has developed multiple real-time network security solutions. These solutions are based upon the ATCA (Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture) platform of our partner Radisys (www.radisys.com) and the usage of REgular EXpression.
